Child/Adolescent Therapy

We recognize that children and adolescents have unique needs, and we have therapists who are specifically qualified to help them. Our therapists can help young people who are having trouble adjusting to changes in family or school, as well as those suffering from depression, loss and more.

If you are concerned about your child's or adolescent's psychological well-being, please contact us. We can help.

How We Help

  • One-on-one counseling provides an opportunity for your child or adolescent to talk openly about his/her thoughts and feelings while being assisted by a qualified, caring, nonjudgmental professional.
  • We have experience and expertise in a wide range of areas including, but not limited to:
    • Problems adjusting to recent changes in family or school
    • Behavior problems
    • Social problems
    • Academic trouble
    • Depression
    • Self-image, self-esteem or self-worth
    • Grief and loss
  • For young children who have difficulty putting their feelings into words, we have clinicians trained in play therapy. Play therapy uses the language of a child's imaginary play to provide a greater understanding of a young child's emotions and to help him/her through the problem situation.
  • We are highly experienced at working with culturally-diverse individuals and pride ourselves on being empathetic and respectful of each person's situation and needs.
  • Our unique position as a division of a larger, non-sectarian social service agency, Jewish Family & Children's Service, gives us immediate access to experienced professionals in elder care, career counseling, adoption, special needs, critical needs resource coordination and more, enabling us to connect you with a range of experts and resources from which you may benefit.
  • Our staff is knowledgeable about third-party reimbursement and is able to guide you through the procedures required by your particular insurance company. Individuals without insurance may apply for a reduced fee based on income and family size.

Meet the People We Help

  • Seth is nine years old, and he's begun to struggle academically. He's also had some behavioral problems at home. His parents are worried that eventually his poor attitude will have a long term affect on his performance at school.

  • Chelsea had always been a straight-A student, and she continued to pull down good grades even as she dealt with the fallout from her parents' divorce. A year after her parents split, she developed anxiety about her academic performance, even though she had maintained her 4.0 average.
