The Grandparents Circle
Are you struggling with the notion of your child entering into, or already in, an interfaith marriage with his or her spouse? Are you worried that your grandchild will not identify with his or her Jewish heritage?
Created by the Jewish Outreach Institute, The Grandparents Circle is a program for Jewish grandparents whose grandchildren are being raised in interfaith families.

A joint program of the Agency for Jewish Learning, Jewish Family & Children's Service and Temple David, the five-part series covers various topics, including exploring the backgrounds and assumptions about intermarriage; examining our own Jewish identities and sharing with our adult children and grandchildren; incorporating Judaism into everyday experiences with our grandchildren; sharing Jewish memories and creating new ones for grandchildren; and nurturing Jewish identities, a lifelong endeavor.
Participating grandparents will learn skills and techniques for listening and talking to their adult children and for sharing their Jewish heritage and nurturing their grandchildren's Jewish identities.
The program is facilitated by Wendy Levin-Shaw, LCSW of JF&CS's Squirrel Hill Psychological Services and Rabbi Barbara AB Symons of Temple David. It is held at Temple David each fall.
