History
Squirrel Hill Psychological Services was launched in November of 2006. Our genesis was the counseling department of Jewish Family & Children's Service which had been providing counseling services to the Greater Pittsburgh community for more than 70 years.
1964
- Gusky Child Guidance Clinic (GCGC) established.
- To offer outpatient mental health services to children under the direction and responsibility of a trained child psychiatrist.
1982
- Licensed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for Outpatient Counseling.
- State monitoring of clinical services.
- JF&CS establishes Domestic Violence Program with funding from Ladies Hospital Aid Society (LHAS).
- To reach out to and serve victims of family violence.
2000
- East Liberty Project(Early Childhood Intervention Program)
- United Way of Allegheny funds a demonstrative mental health program with JF&CS in the East Liberty area of Pittsburgh.
2006
- Established Squirrel Hill Psychological Services as unique division within JF&CS
- Established with a unique identity to better represent services delivered in the community.
